When it comes to vehicle selection, sometimes an all-in-one package is the best choice. Both the 2019 Chevy Tahoe and the very similar 2019 Chevy Suburban act as a family vehicle, daily driver, and tough as nails workhorse. Of course, understanding the similarities and differences between the two can help you decide which one is right for you.

It can be challenging to find the difference between the 2019 Chevy Tahoe and Chevy Suburban. The styling around the exterior of both the Chevy Tahoe and the Chevy Suburban may be identical, but there are also many differences. Some of the many differences would be the overall size on the interior and exterior, the total cost to own one of these vehicles, and standard vehicle options.

Cost To Own

When it comes to the 2019 Chevy Tahoe and the 2019 Chevy Suburban, the Suburban is the more expensive model due to its extra size. The 2019 Chevy Tahoe has a starting MSRP of $47,900 for the LT model and $62,600 for the Premier model. Whereas the 2019 Chevy Suburban has a starting MSRP of $50,600 for the LT model and $65,300 for the Premier model.

As you get into the higher trims and add some luxurious features both SUVs can range up around $70,000. Adding 4WD to both of these SUVs can add $3,000 to the overall price as it is although these prices aren’t to bad when you consider some of the features that come with some of the higher trims. For example, many of the higher trim models offer include navigation, leather seats, rear entertainment systems, optional sunroofs, and of course, GM’s amazing magnetic ride control.

Size And Cargo Space

One of the main differences between these large Chevy SUVs would be the size between these two family SUVs. The Tahoe has an overall length of 204 inches, whereas the Suburban has a total length of 224.4 inches, giving the Suburban a difference of 20.4 inches, making this the larger of the two SUVs. As a result of the extra 20.4 inches of length on the 2019 Chevy Suburban, cargo space is quite a bit more substantial than the 2019 Chevy Tahoe.

The Tahoe – being the smaller of these two SUVs – still has quite a bit of cargo space at 15.3 cubic feet behind the third row, and 51.7 cubic feet behind the second row. The 2019 Chevy Tahoe also offers 24.8 inches of legroom in the third row and a nice 39 inches in the second row. However, if for any reason you need more cargo space the 2019 Chevy Suburban offers 39.3 cubic feet behind the third row and 76.7 cubic feet behind the second row. The Suburban also offers an incredible 34.5 inches of legroom for the third row, and only an additional 0.7 inches in the second row to make 39.7 inches of legroom.

Performance

Since the beginning, both the Tahoe and Suburban have been, and still are, indistinguishable mechanically. Both the 2019 Chevy Tahoe and Suburban ride on the same magnetic ride control platform. Rear wheel drive comes standard as well in both the Tahoe and the Suburban with the 4-wheel drive as an option. The 2019 Chevy Tahoe and Suburban both hold a 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8 which produces 355 horsepower at 5,600 rpm, and 383 lb-ft of torque at 4,100 rpm. Both SUVs have an average of 16 miles per gallon in the city and 23 miles per gallon on the highway.

Overall, both the 2019 Chevy Tahoe and the 2019 Chevy Suburban will provide you what you are looking for in an all-around vehicle. The Tahoe is admittedly more affordable in pricing, but the features are so similar to the Suburban that it makes no difference should you choose to spend more or less. Both vehicles provide more than adequate comfort, ruggedness, and durability.
