When you want a truck that will take you from the worksite to the weekend, what do you choose? In the broad class of pickup trucks, there are many great options to choose from. Two that stand out in the latest model year are the 2019 Chevy Colorado and the 2019 Toyota Tacoma. What you'll get with both of these trucks is plenty of power, a generous array of standard and available creature comforts, and numerous safety amenities. But when push comes to shove, the Chevy Colorado has some advantages. The Colorado is small and nimble, but it also leads the way in power output. So if you are looking for a smaller but very agile workhorse, the Colorado takes the prize. The Colorado comes in a variety of trim levels, including a high-end ZR2 model that is built with an impressive off-road capability. The latest Colorado features an enviable upgrade to a new infotainment system, featuring new software, and the addition of more USB ports in both the front and rear. The latest Colorado is part of the second generation of trucks, which launched in 2015. A gasoline V6 engine provides more power than the truck's rivals, and it also gives the Colorado a class-leading towing capacity. With the Toyota Tacoma, you won't get quite as impressive of a power output. The Toyota is certainly off-road capable, but it falls just short of what the Colorado offers. With the Tacoma, safety is a priority, and you'll get all the standard creature comforts that you'd expect in a vehicle for the 2019 model year.

When it comes to performance, the 2019 Colorado shines. The Colorado is powered by two engines. One, although it is a four-cylinder, gives the Colorado a leading towing capacity and power output. There is also a six-cylinder engine that provides even more power. This year's Colorado can also be ordered in a diesel variant. With the V6 engine, the Colorado features a best-in-class towing capacity. With the diesel engine, it can tow up to 7,700 LBS. Perhaps even more impressive is the fact that the diesel engine is turbo-charged, which means you can enjoy even more power when you're not hauling trailers and heavy cargo around. If you are looking at the Toyota Tacoma, the standard engine that you can look forward to is a 2.7L, four-cylinder engine that is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.

On the inside, the 2019 Colorado features an infotainment center and a driver's information display. The driver's display, which is a 3.5-inch diagonal screen, shows important information about the Chevy's performance. There is also a seven-inch infotainment screen that gets upgraded by an inch in higher-end models. The higher trims also add navigation. Heated seats and a heated steering wheel are also standard on the higher end trims. The Toyota Tacoma features an infotainment system with standard Bluetooth. Satellite radio is standard at the higher trim levels, and navigation is available. You'll have to pay extra for satellite radio and a USB charging port.

The 2019 Tacoma comes standard with six airbags. This year, it also adds daytime running lights. Electronic traction control is standard, while driver-assist features like forward collision warning and blind-spot warning are optional. The Toyota comes with Toyota's own safety package, which includes forward collision warning and lane departure warning. Other features like cruise control and pedestrian detection cost extra if they're available.

If you are looking for an agile, safe, comfortable, and off-road capable truck, the 2019 Chevy Colorado deserves your attention. If you're comparing it to others, the 2019 Tacoma is a close second. When you're ready to try out one or both for comparison's sake, just let us know. Our friendly and knowledgeable team is here to help you decide on a Colorado to call your own!
