The 2019 Chevy Camaro SS and the 2019 Ford Mustang GT are two of the most coveted pony cars available. If you are in the market for a stunning sports car with iconic class and the performance capabilities to match, you understandably may be trying to decide between these two seemingly similar cars. While some drivers have a distinct preference for one automotive brand over the other, a closer comparison reveals that these two models actually have important differences.

Power and performance are areas where these pony cars shine. Both offer an amazing experience on the road, but there are a few variations. The Mustang GT comes with a 5.0-liter TI-VCT V8 engine with a 6-speed manual, rev-matching transmission. Other standard performance equipment includes an independent rear suspension, launch control, rear cross-axis suspension joints and a few other features. The Camaro SS features a 6.2-liter, DI V8 engine with a 6-speed manual transmission. It also comes with Brembo high-performance brakes, an extra-large cooling system, a performance suspension, optional paddle shifters, a dual-outlet exhaust and more.

Exterior Appearance

The most recent major update for the Ford Mustang took place in 2015, and the Camaro’s last major update was a year later in 2016. The Mustang GT is available in a convertible or fastback coupe design. Both options have a forward sloping hood that fades into a grille. The grille turns downward at the corners. Standard exterior features for the Mustang GT include hood vents, LED headlights with signature accents, 18-inch wheels, LED sequential headlights and a few additional features. The 2019 Camaro SS has a fairly level hood that gives it a menacing look on the road. The hood fades only slightly into an elongated grille, and this grille turns upward at the corners. Some of its exterior features include a body-colored spoiler, powered side mirrors, black-wall summer run-flat tires, 20-inch wheels and more.

Interior Design and Features

While these two models both received a major overhaul several years ago, the automakers have introduced new standard and optional features to the interior to maintain their strong appeal. Inside the Mustang GT, you will enjoy cloth bucket seats, two USB ports, a SYNC system, a rearview camera, a push-button start and a few other features. The GT’s interior design as well as the Camaro SS’s design have a cockpit-like feel that promotes a high-performance driving experience. The Camaro is available in a 1SS or a 2SS trim, and both are well-equipped throughout the interior. Depending on the trim that you select, your SS may come with a Bose sound system, SiriusXM radio, dual-zone auto climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, memory settings, a split-folding rear bench seat and a few other features.

You can see that both of these pony cars offer plenty of features that may please even the most discerning automotive enthusiasts. To get a better feel for what they can do on the road and to make a closer comparison of the two Camaro SS variations available, contact our dealership today.
