The Chevrolet Malibu has a sharp look and many appealing qualities that make it stand starkly when compared other midsize sedans in 2018. It's loaded with technology and comes in four trim styles with many different engine choices. It was completely redesigned in 2016 and has since been continuously updated to keep pace with its competitors.

The 2018 Ford Fusion hasn't changed much for 2018. Its design has received generally positive reviews from drivers and it has a quality interior that prioritizes passenger convenience, however all of its trim levels are very similar, and it doesn't quite keep up with the Malibu's impressive innovations.

Interior and Key Features

The modern and uncluttered interior of the 2018 Malibu gives off a pleasant and calming vibe. It's easy to see that convenience and driver comfort were at the forefront of this sedan's design. There's plenty of room for both drivers and passengers and the materials in the cabin have a durable, quality feel. It's easy to see that drivers will find plenty of technology in this Chevy; it's equipped with a MyLink touchscreen interface, Wi-Fi, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The 2018 Ford Fusion has a comfortable and accommodating interior, but the Malibu simply shines more brightly in this area.

Performance and Handling

The Malibu really stands out this year when it comes to driving performance. It handles extremely responsively and is fun to drive. Its available 2.0 Liter engine provides all of the power you need to get up to speed on the interstate, while still remaining extremely economically efficient. The Malibu is athletic and confident! Though the 2018 Ford Fusion is a quiet and likable car, it just doesn't have the responsive handling that the Malibu does.

In the midsize sedan sector, safety is key. The 2018 Chevrolet Malibu has many impressive safety features including side-mounted airbags, automatic emergency braking in all models, and antilock brakes. It has scored consistently high in all of its crash tests and safety ratings. The 2018 Ford Fusion has also gotten great safety ratings, though it isn't standardly equipped with automatic braking.
