While hybrids can get power from either electric or gas power, the Volt is powered by batteries and has a gas-powered generator that extends the cars range if it runs out of electric charge. The 2014 Washington DC Chevrolet Volt has received accolades for its low operating cost, great ride, and excellent safety scores. Competitors to the Volt are the Toyota Prius and the Nissan Leaf. For 2014, the keyless ignition/entry system and MyLink are standard. There's one base trim level.
